3000-year-old tree in Italy deemed one of oldest trees in existence
CATANIA, ITALY - NOVEMBER 25: A bunch of 3000-year-old aesculus hippocastanum (horse chestnut) on the eastern slope of the Etna volcano in Italy have been deemed the one of the oldest trees in existence.The tree known as "Hundred Horse Chestnut" located in the village of Sant'Alfio near Catania, is among the oldest monumental trees in Italy and the world.The chestnut trunk measures about 22m in circumference for about 22m in height. In reality, it is made up of three stems.It is in the Guinness world record book as having the biggest girth as well as being the oldest chestnut tree in the world.
