3000 years old chestnut tree in Italy's Catania
CATANIA, ITALY - NOVEMBER 24: A view of Hundred Horses Chestnut, placed in the territory of the village of Sant’Alfio near Catania, is one of the most important and beautiful monumental trees in the country in Catania, Italy on November 24, 2021. The age of the tree is estimated to be around 3000 years. This tree gets its name from a legend that the queen Joan of Aragon, according to others sources the queen Jeanne d'Anjou during a visit to Mount Etna, taken aback by a storm, found a shelter under its branches with all his retinue of one hundred knights.
