Air pollution in Tehran

Air pollution, which causes the death of hundreds of people in the winter months continues to affect daily life in the city. The level of pollution puts Tehran at the 12th place out of all air polluted cities ranked worldwide. Many factors such as the city's physical structure and population density that are not suitable for air circulation cause the same views to be experienced every year in winter. Old vehicles, bad fuel, widely used motorcycles and factories are cited as the main causes of air pollution.
