Bangladeshi workers rally in Dhaka to mark May Day
DHAKA, BANGLADESH - MAY 1: Hundreds of workers from different sectors rallied in Dhaka's Press Club area on Sunday (May. 1) to observe the international Labor day. The day is a public holiday in Bangladesh. This year, the theme for May Day in Bangladesh is 'Sramik-Malik Ekota, Unnoyoner Nischoyota'' (Workers-owners unity, assurance of development). May Day or International Workers' Day first emerged as an event commemorating the labor of workers worldwide on May 1, 1886, when a group of workers in the US held a massive strike for an eight-hour workday.
