Dangerous canyon in Turkey become frequent destination for adrenaline lovers
ERZINCAN, TURKEY - JUNE 05: The Karanlik (Dark) canyon in eastern Turkey welcomes adrenaline enthusiasts every season with its natural beauties as well as numerous tunnels, bends, and sharp cliffs.Considered as one of the most challenging roads in the world, the canyon is among the five deepest canyons in the world with a depth of 1,000 meters in the Kemaliye district of Erzincan provinceIn the town, it is spread over 35 kilometers (21.7 miles).The road, which was started to be built by the local people in 1870 in order to connect Kemaliye to Central Anatolia via Sivas's Divrigi district, could only be completed in 2002 due to the difficult geographical structure of the canyon, despitethe government's support.The dangerous road, which has been used for tourism purposes in recent years with the opening of alternative and connection roads, has become a frequent destination for many tourists from home and abroad due to its natural beauty and challenging track.The 10-kilometer-long road that continues along the canyon attracts the attention of adventure lovers in all seasons due to its 45 tunnels of various sizes, many sharp bends, and cliffs.Off-road, motorcycle, bicycle, and hiking enthusiasts, as well as nature lovers and photographers, visit the region every season.Some extreme sports such as base jump, wingsuit flying, rafting can also be carried out in the canyon.
