Dog 'Alex' rescued 22 days after earthquake, now under treatment
HATAY, TÜRKİYE - MARCH 01: After 22 days since the deadly earthquakes struck southern Türkiye, a dog was rescued from under rubble with only slight injuries.'Alex', a husky in breed, spent the past three weeks under quake debris in Hatay province, but was finally pulled alive and healthy."We received a call yesterday, the owners of the dog told us that they heard the dog's voice. Although they were not sure, we went to the rubble and I thought I heard the dog's breathing," one of the rescuers Osman Polat told reporters."There was a little hole in the rubble, through which we reached the dog after excavating by hands."Both the rescuers and the owner was so happy that the dog was alive and healthy 22 days after the quake."It is a miracle that the dog is still alive without any food and drink under that rubble for so many days," the rescuer said.Dozens of cats and dogs were saved in similar attempts as rescuers were trying to reach human victims under wreckage.Türkiye was hit by two powerful earthquakes on Monday, Feb. 6, with the death toll reaching over 45,000.Since then, all the emergency personnel and volunteers have been making every effort to reach as many earthquake victims as possible, be it people or animals.
