Japan's Self-Defense Forces conduct an amphibious operation in the south of Japan
TANEGASHIMA, JAPAN - NOVEMBER 25: A Japan's Self-Defense Forces CH-47 Chinook helicopter on-board the amphibious assault ship Kunisaki (JS Kunisaki, LST-4003) as Japan's Self-Defense Forces and its Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade conducting landing training on November 25, 2021, at Tanegashima, an island of Kagoshima Prefecture in the southern of Japan, during an amphibious operation in which U.S. Marines corps units participate. The aim of the military exercice is to improve the integrated operational capabilities of the Land, Sea, and Air of the Self-Defense Forces and to assume the defense of Japan's remote islands. The Japan Self-Defense Force's amphibious Rapid Deployment which participate to the operation, was established in March 2018 under the Ground Self-Defense Force. it is based in Sasebo city in Nagasaki Prefecture, and aims to the defense and recapture of Japan islands.
