Monumental trees of Turkey
HATAY, TURKEY - DECEMBER 2: A view of 1351-year-old olive tree in Payas district of Hatay on December 2, 2021. The olive tree in the courtyard of the mosque, located in the Selim II Kulliye in Payas district, was registered as a "monumental tree" in 1976. With a trunk width of 100 centimeters, the tree yields approximately 300 kilograms of olives per year. Monumental trees, which are registered and protected in many regions of Turkey and accepted as natural heritage, bear witness to history.
