Sumatran tiger in Indonesia
CISARUA, INDONESIA - JULY 27: A 16-year-old Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae), named Salamah from Aceh, who survived a snare that injured his leg, lives at the Taman Safari Indonesia Zoo in Cisarua, West Java, Indonesia, on July 27, 2022. The tiger's leg, that stuck in the trap set up by the residents of the palm oil plantation, had to be amputated during the rescue works in Aceh, 2009. The Taman Safari Indonesia Zoo conducts missions to protect nature with duties including rescue, rehabilitation and release of Sumatran tigers. The zoo rehabilitates tigers, who are victims of conflict with humans and are exposed to traps, until they are strong enough to survive on their own in the wild.
