The world's largest telescope explores space from Chile
ATACAMA DESERT, CHILE - OCTOBER 28: The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) radio telescope in the Atacama Desert, Chile, celebrated 10 years of operation on March 13, 2022. ALMA is made up of 66 high-precision antennas, which together act as a single telescope, currently the largest radio telescope in the world. It is located in the Atacama desert in Chile, on the Chajnator hill plateau, where its antennas are located 5,000 meters above sea level. ALMA is the result of an international alliance between Europe (ESO), North America (NRAO) and East Asia (NAOJ), in collaboration with the Republic of Chile. The best skies in the world for astronomical observation are found in northern Chile. The South American country is expected to have 70% of the world's astronomical capacity within a decade.
