Turkish soldiers look after Afghan baby thrown over razor wire by desperate mother at Kabul airport
KABUL, AFGHANISTAN - AUGUST 20: After Kabul fell to the Taliban thousands of Afghans have flooded the airport, desperate to flee the country as uncertainty over how the Taliban will rule increases.Many civilians have died attempting to flee by clinging onto aircraft, only to later plummet to their deaths. Others died after suffocating due to stampedes at the departure terminal.Yesterday the World witnessed very rare and sad scenes in Kabul as new videos emerged, showing the desperation of Afghan mothers who were captured throwing their babies over the razor wire, asking the soldiers to take them, some got caught in the wire.Turkish soldiers who have been conducting tasks at the airport looked after a two-month-old baby Hadiya, one of the babies thrown over razor wires.The soldiers handed over the baby girl to her family on Friday (Aug. 20) after taking care of her more than a day.While thousands of people waiting at the control gates expect to be evacuated from the country under difficult conditions, the Turkish security forces at the airport are setting an example to the world by extending a helping hand to those in need. The Turkish soldiers, who distribute water and food to the Afghans also carry out the evacuation process.Yesterday, while hundreds of people were waiting at Kabul airport, the mother of baby Hadiya among the crowd gave the baby to the Turkish soldiers, to save her from the stampede.Farista Rahmani, the mother fell apart from her two-month-old baby and her husband Ali Musa Rahmani for more than a day.Ali Musa Rahmani could not find the wife he was looking for a long time. Since the baby's belongings remained with the mother, the Turkish military extended a helping hand to the father, who was waiting in despair, at the northern gate within the military line.The Turkish soldier brought the father and the baby to the safe zone changed the baby’s diaper and fed her. The baby was later handed over to his father.Taliban’s military victory on Sunday prompted a chaotic and frenzied evacuation of all foreign nationals belonging to the US, the UK, and NATO countries in Afghanistan with helicopters shuttling nationals from embassies to the airport.
