ISTANBUL, TURKIYE (RECENT, JULY 2022): The Underwater Offence (Su Altı Taarruz, or SAT) and Underwater Defense (Su Altı Savunma, or SAS) are the special naval warfare units of the Turkish Armed Forces.Turkish SAS teams are especially well-known for their success in clearing mines or unexploded torpedoes, and disabling improvised explosive devices (IEDs).They have well achieved their goals in a series of military operations including the Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018), and Peace Spring (2019).
