Views of Ingush Towers in Ingushetia
INGUSHETIA, RUSSIA - JULY 16: A view of The Pyaling Tower Complex within the Ingush Towers, which are unique monuments of medieval Ingush architecture representing monumental residential, defensive, signal—guard and observation stone structures, at Tsey-Loam Mountain located mainly in the Dzheyrakh district of Ingushetia, Russia on July 16, 2022. Tower construction in the North Caucasus, scientists believe, originated in ancient times, which is associated with the remains of megalithic cyclopean dwellings (according to the dating of Ingush researchers — II—I thousand BC) found on the territory of ancient Ingush villages. In the Middle Ages, there came a period of revival of the tower culture of the North Caucasus, the phenomenon of which, according to researchers, was most clearly manifested in the mountains of Ingushetia, which received the name "the land of towers". In the mountains of Ingushetia, researchers have identified and accounted for more than 120 combat towers. The Pyaling tower complex was built, like other similar castle ensembles, around the IX century AD.
