Navam Perahera religious procession in Sri Lanka
COLOMBO, SRI LANKA – FEBRUARY 16. A group of Sri Lankan dancers perform the Nagaraksha dance at the annual Navam perehera religious procession held by the Gangaramaya Buddhist temple in Colombo, Sri Lanka 16 February 2022. The Navam perehera is an annual procession held by the Gangaramaya Buddhist temple during the Buddhist calendar month of Nawam (February-March). Considered only second to the historic procession of the Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy, it was not held during the Covid-19 pandemic and now has resumed with the country gradually turning back to normalcy.
